  • New Rescue Lizards....

:'( Well 2 lizards needed my help and there gona recive it, theres this guy that i had talked to a few times and i also know his wife alittle and i saw at there house that they had 2 lizards one Fattail gex and one leo gex, i noticed that they were very thin no water dish no heat and no light for there cage, also that the fattail had a regrown tail and was very weak.. The leopard gex was way tiny, thin, and looked like it was very weak plus to boot it all off it had just droped its tail, so mad as i was i went home and just could not sleep thinking about these 2 poor lizards, I had told the guy and his wife that i was alittle upset on how they were set up and cared for and the guy didnt care, he said he never should have spent money on them anyways as they was junk.. wow talk about getting super angry.... > I called his wife and she said they hadnt eattin in along time and that shes not alowed to do anything with them as there his not hers and he gets mad everytime she does tell him to get rid of them since he dont care about them.. So i talked to her some more and told her to convince him to give them up to someone who cares and wants to see if we can get them doing better then i told her if not i was gona send animal control over to her house for animal neglect.. Late last night i got a call from her, she talked to him and told him he was gona get in trouble if he didnt give them away to be cared for well the ploy worked and now im gona be picking them up sometime late this afternoon.. We shall see how all goes and if i can save these poor lizards...... :'( :'( :'( People like this just make me sooooooooooooo mad and sooooooo sick...

:'( :'( > The way the tails are i bet this dude was picking um up by the tail, as theres no reason they should have dropped there tails unless they was scared or being harrased.. What really got to me and put me in tears was he called them junk... cwm23.gif cwm23.gif.. I see this kind of situation all the time. the novelty wears off and no one cares or its not what they expected from there so called new pet and then they dont care at all... Pardon my words but church goers are the worst when it comes to these poor critters!!!!!! They seem to think god will provide for them and then they starve and die.. > :'( I could tell you some real horror stories that would make you cwm8.gif cwm8.gif cwm8.gif and i had to go there and deal with it.. Just Awful!!!!!!!!

:'( :'( :'( :'(Ok this is what happend tonight, well i got the call i was waitting for and made it over to there house he was gone, man did that make me happy.. Well got to the back wash room and the fattail had died, was stiff and it had a sore on its stomach.. I was fighting to hold back the tears, JR went to the truck he was really upset, the poor little leo gex was so frail and just total bones it was just laying there with its eyes close, i didnt even want to pic it up it was so frail...Well after putting it in a care container and i handed it to JR she walked out of the bedroom with another one!!!!!! > > This one larger and inshed, thin as can be and said take this one to, i looked at her with bullets in my eyes and said what else are you hidding.. so she took me around and showed me everything nothing left.. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! pi$$ me off!!! Well i told her she better tell me if he dares try getting any more critters, will she heck no i dont think so.. Thats ok i got eyes watching them now and they will let me know for sure.. So we took the long drive home warm heat on the 2 leo gex and got home, sat at the table and made sure the bigger one was ok first and gave him a good amount of vitamin calcium drops he laped up enough till tomarrow and misted him so he could shed easier and then placed him in a medium ICU cage with water dish light and heat.. Now for the poor frail one,, Man nows the time i wish i had a dig cam oh you would fall to your knees crying if you seen this one.. wow how the world do you hold something so boney, now to get her to take some vitamin calcium drops, well she laped a little and got a tiny amount down she was having a real tuff time swallowing as she was so dry and shriveld.. Cassie helped me as the drops was going everywhere, after i made sure she got a tiny amount as i dont want to over load her we then took a teaspoon and some fruit baby food mixed with calcium and tried to get her to lap alittle of that and she did a very tiny amount.. i put her in a small ICU cage on real soft paper towels and toilet paper, water dish low enough and she has belly heat and a dim light, her tail is gone but shes has a little nub growing back already.. so Cassie and i was gona stay up most the night and try again with her in few hrs on the food mix.. I walked by and noticed the bigger one was perky and droped a few soft stage mealworms in to see if i could get a feeding response and wham he got um.. Only 4 for now and it ate one crix.. then i noticed the poor frail one watching the other one as i do have there ICU cages next to each other so we picked out a tiny crix and she ate it OH TALK ABOUT JUMP FOR JOY!!!!! so we let her have one more and one tiny white soft stage mealworm all gone and down, now shes not getting any more till i know she can hold that down.... We are gona name her Sugar and if she does well for a week then we have a good chance with her and she will come out of ICU in 2 weeks.. Tomarrow JR is gona pic me up some wax worms as that will be alot better for her and easy to go down.... But for now we are all in tears and we are all very glad shes trying, the bigger one we shall name MR. Muffin.. If she does make it she will be a real miracle :'( :'( :'( Only time and good loving care will tell....

:-\ Well Sugar is still with us, she is still way to weak she just lays with eyes closed on the heat, we took her out at 6am and got her to lap some more baby food vitamin mix, im not giving up on her. as long as she takes a tiny amount each time im hoping she will pic up and then im hoping the crix she ate will help get her organs working.. Im gona try some wax worms on her later after another baby food feeding. i have found out what type leo phase she is its called a snow leopard gex, and i found pics of what a healty one looks like... This is what she looks like but picture a walking skeloton and sunkin eyes and a missin tail... :'( :'( This is not my pic... I will NOT GIVE UP ON HER!!! shes going into a larger ICU cage later with hide house..

                  Re:New Rescue Lizards....

:-\ The male larger one is graduating to a normal cage and out of ICU.. Hes alittle sluggish but he did eat well last night and he also shedded and i watched him eat his shed which is a good thing, no shed left on any part of his body.. He drank good and is now full.. he for sure will make it but im also gona dose him again with vitamin calcium mix baby food, once a day for three more days, then he will have the normal vita mix couple times a week.. MR. Muffin is a high yellow phase leopard gex, man when ya walk by his cage he has one nice personality, he picks his head up and looks right at ya as if to say Thanks lady for the help.. This is a pic of what he looks like,, again not my pic... What really gets to me is the look in there eyes its heart renching.... :'( :'( :'(

                      Re:New Rescue Lizards....

Steve, at that shop just make sure they have high heat say 90 at one end and then a cool end of 78, they need a water dish and a seperate calcium dish with the powder in it so they can lap at when needed, they like it dry as they dont require the higher humidity like the Fattails do.. But should be provided with a hide that has moss moistend for humidity.. When very young they should not be kept on sand,, tiny wax worms and tiny crix is better than mealworms at that young age as the meal worms if not in the white soft stage can cause impactation and the worm can do harm to there stomach.. How small are they at the shop?? when young they dont resemble the adults at all, they are banded yellow and a darker color with bands on the tail as well..

                        Hey Cuda,

Trying to get them to do correct temps and stuff and almost impossible. They have all their repyiles in 10-20 gallon tanks with heat lights avove each one.. During the day 90 sounds about what they are getting, but at night, all lights go off.. I closest I cam to have them change temps is when they had 4 big Boas in a tank and I pointed out that each one had its head straight up with a mouth gape and one had bubbles around its mouth.. I talked to the owner and suggested that they atleast put another heat light over that tank, they did..

The ones that they got in have a sigh that says Yellow Phase lepord gex. They are small about 4 inches long and 1/2 wide in the belly.. They only had a shallow water dish and a dish with some gex food and some dusted crix roaming around..

Typical pet shop setup.. Most hope they sell the retiles before too long.. Not enough room to setup each one right. I don't agree with it, but its the way things are done in pet shops... Its sad..

:-\ Quick update on Sugar, she has finaly pooed , not normal but she went and that tells me her internal organs are working and the babyfood i gave her as her first meal has gone thru.. She has gottin her 5th babyfood and vita mix tiny meal and her belly is starting to come out now, im gona wait on the next poo befour giving her any more normal insect food.. She is now in a larger ICU with a stronger light and more heat at one end and a hide hut.. she has a water dish and also a calcium dish.. she walked around alittle befour i put her back after feeding.. The poo was a major part as i was worried she was blocked from starving.. How this poor little girl is surviving is beond me when as bad as she is she should have died.. Thank God shes alive and trying....Il give you another update tomarrow on her.. She has a long battle to go... :'( :'(
