  • Another Leo Rescue..

:-\ Well went to my dealer buddies to pic out a nice scorp and he had this female leo that didnt look to good and said he didnt need her anymore that she had laid 6 clutches of eggs so far this yr and that she is having a hard time bouncing back from it, shes thin and also alittle dehydrated and also had several layers of old shed stuck to her.. He said i could take her home, so i did.. I checked her for crypto symtoms no belly spots and she still has fat in the tail, not as much as i wish she did but its there.. So shes in very tight quarenteen in my office closet.. and only i work with her after all other critters have been taking care of.. She was given a soak bath and skin now all taken care of, she was given electrolites and vitamins and then put in her quarenteen cage and is now resting. she ate one crix, several moths and one locust last night.. She pooed like she hadnt eatting in a long time. Only time will tell with her.. Gone talk to my vet see about a crypto test next week... Gona feed her good and keep giving the vitamins and see how she does will take few weeks for her to gain weight and to recoop... Now lets just hope she does good and she gets her normal life back....

Hey, good luck Cuda. I'm sure she'll do fine in your care. After 6 clutches, I'm sure all she wants to now is sleep and eat!!!

Good job... you always run into the ones in bad shape...
I don't see them alot but I guess that is good because I can't take in recues really...

8)NP Red, if she gets alot better over the next month and she does really well in my care and i do deside to adopt her out i will let you know right away.. Over the yrs ive had alot of leo and other gex rescues but i just never had the room for them or the time as i was working big time with snake rescues, now that things have calmed down some and i have the room i have given a few a great home here with me.. She wasnt looking very good this morn so i soaked her again and gave her more vitamins and also checked her over real well and put her back in her home to relax and she barked at me and also took a nip at me, i really think these females have a attitude... LOL!!! Just alittle while ago i gave her 6 crix and she ate 5 of them and went back in her hide box.. I really dont want to push her at this point as long as she eats everyday and starts putting the weight back on, shes not intrested in wax worms so i gota wean her on to them and mealies are gona start on monday but for now few crix everyday... gota get her checked by the vet in few days....

          Hey Cuda,

Good luck with the new lizzy.. Hate that some folks do their best to make burnt out breeders to just chuck them out..

              Re:Another Leo Rescue..

:-\ Yeah i know Steve, theres so many people out there that will just breed a critter till its on deaths door just to make a buck... I cant adopt something out till its a 100% healthy and eatting well.. This female is eatting but shes actting wierd in the morn, plus she has the wobbles i think shes so calcium depleted gona do alot to get her back up to par. gona have the crypto test done next week see what that shows.. I think few weeks of vitamins and good feed will help this girl.. She had a very normal poo today which shows me her digestive tract is in working order, still no black on belly.. She ate good lastnight 6 crixs and 2 moths. Im a keepin my fingers crossed on this one.... :-\

Ya' what a screwed up thing... But I can say that leo's have what six or so cluches with one breeding... So this one could have just been a lil' under weight then bred and wamm almost dead... Well good luck with her...

                    Re:Another Leo Rescue..

8)Ok wooohoooo, some good news this morn, " Twinkie" thats what we named her has finaly eattin some wax worms. Was only 7 waxies but she ate um and that makes me real happy, i noticed she really wants to be out of the cage so i took her out last night and used a old towel for my lap, gave her few more laps of vitamin electro mix and then put her back and did the same this morn.. Then turned her light off and said heck with it gona keep putting wax worms in no matter what so put 7 in a small dish with calcium powder and wham she came out and got um, slowly but did... wooooohoooo.. now if i can get her to eat mealie worms and the wax worms she will gain weight in now time, im gona change her cage around put her in something alittle bigger and give her a humidity house and diffrent water dish.. shes staying in the closet for another week and then il bring her out but still gona stay in tight quarenteen for several more weeks..... She hasnt barked at me or niped at me since the first day home so maybe all this handling is paying off...
