  • New Baby(BIG) Savannah Monitor

Just got a savannah monitor... got him through the mail, poor thing, well anyways when they said he is a juvenile I thaught it would be a 1 foot long monitor. WELL as I come to find out it is a 2 foot long juvenile. Very awesome, way better then my tegu anyway, this thing is awesome.. will get some pics up soon... we are building a cage for ?him? in about a week. 8 feet long, 3 feet wide 2 feet tall.. should suit him well.. and its going to cost me about 400 dollars.. my dad is going to make it out of some weird material like plexi glass but stronger, and aluminum, hes a machinist, but anyway lemme know what you think about the cage setup and if anyone has any experiences with savs let me know. And i think i came up with an appropriate name, Tank : suits them well. Thanks for any input,

If I was you I would make the cage out of wood of some sort... I have herd of peoples savs. breaking glass and plexi with there agressive actions they take some times... The one I can think of right off hand was when a cat got in the room and was standing right out side the cage and the sav. ran at the glass and broke it right out of the side of the tank... I am sure this is a rare thing but sav. are quite aggressive some times...

Red I dont know were your getting the info but savs are one of the more docile monitor lizards although like all monitor lizards they can be mean. They are extremely strong too.

They are only nice if you are nice to them... well and you don't feed live mice and crap like that...

This is true. Monitors are like any other animal out there its all how you raise them.
