I have a Bearded Dragon and he is cool lizard. Well, that is not what this is about. I am thinking about buying a Montior of some type. I want to be able to hold it like I can with my Bearded Dragon. What type of Montior would be the best type for what I want to be able to do? How long will this montior be able to live in a 75 gal. tank? I want a big one but not to big if you know what I mean. 4-5 foot would be good or what ever could live in the 75 gal. tank. b4.gif

get a red or yellow acki..  They stay small and I think a 75 gallon will be good for it's hole life...  You can get one at www.proexotics.com  They have some really nice stock...

try looking into the Dumerils Monitor.. they stay on the smaller side like 4-5' range ..BUT like others have said here. A 75 gallon will most likely not be big enough for long anyways for any type monitor really.

In my opinion I would go a water monitor. For you the problem sounds like their length. You might look into a savannah. But you should know that they can grow longer than 4-5 feet. It is always a good idea to also make sure that the animal’s terrarium is at least 1.5 times its length. One more thing to keep in mind is that no matter what kind of monitor you choose the more you work with them the more tame they are.

I would say a Black throat monitor is a good one to start with, it will eventually get too big for a 75 gal tank though. They are good beginner monitors. Good tempermant, and pretty hardy.
