    Hey all,

I took in two rescues today. One of my fav Lizzy's.. The Schneider's Skink.. Both have what at first appeared to be burns on the back, but closer looking and especially on one, its looks more like a bactierial infection that is getting out of hand.. Gonna do my best with these guys. These two are very cool, and great temperment, like most skinks.. I will take some pic's in a bit amd show you all how these two look right now. I just want to give them a chance to eat a little. I puts some crix in and a bowl of greens and blue berrys with a dish of calcium powder. They are chasing the crix. So after they settle a little I will take some pics and clean the infected area and start treating it..

Just a side note. We all know that most pet chains really stink at the care and caring about the reptiles. But I have to say since I made myself known to PetCo about an hour away, they have been real good. They are changing all their setups for the retiles and today when I was there, they even took my adnice about an isolation room just for the reptiles. These two skinks came in this way with their delivery of animals and they put the skinks in the back room right away and called me. The manager told me he didn't care if I want to keep them or if I would return them for sale for the store, he just wanted them to get the help they need.. So all in all, things work out when you try.. This is the second group of retiles I have helped them with. If your wondering why I would do this from free, its about the reptiles, thats all.. And this PetCo is starting to donate to the rescue.. No money, but a few supplies here and there..

    Pics in a bit..

        Hey all,

Well they have been cleaned and meds are on them.. They both did great.. The first three pics will show the little one. That goes around its whold body.. After looking real close, I am thinking burn again... Just have to watch any infection doesn't get out of control.. The bigger one I am now thinking a gash.. I will look closer as soon as they settle and eat more...

        This is the smaller one..

                        Hey Cuda,

Rest asured I will do whatever I can to help them... After cleaning the wounds and dressing them I believe the little one has a burn. My guess like we talked about, its a burn from maybe an over heated wire from say a heat rock or something like that. The big one looks like he has more of a gash> So I am treating each like that.. Time will tell. The big one took crix from my hand tonight, so thats good. The little one snapped a crix and then dropped it.. Time will tell..

OMG!!!! Thank goodness they are in your hands Steve. That is so sad about these little guys. I know how gentle and great Skinks can be. I've been thinking about getting a couple of then someday. Good luck Steve. Hopefully in a few sheds and some constant care, they'll be good as new!!!
