  • 130 Gallon Update

Well I picked up about 10 adult male cichlids over the last 2 weeks or so so the tank is pretty much as stocked as I want it unless certain fish I really want pop up only thing I need to add now is some black ones. So here is a short video of tank it was feeding time so they were all gathered up and I thought it was a good time to take a video.

Looks great Mikey! A 130 Gallon tank is too ambitious for me so I'll just watch your video if I ever get tempted to have more than my one Angelfish!

      I love it man.

How much would you say something that nice would cost me?

And how hard of upkeep is it.

I have always wanted one but just heard they are a major pain.

      Thanks for sharing

        Re: 130 Gallon Update

You know I actually traded a guy a boa for the tank but had to $200 to get it resurfaced since its an acrylic tank. And I had to get all the filtration and heaters and what not, not to mention the cost of fish. But if you look on CL you can normally pick up a 100 gallon or bigger with everything for around 500 unless its just a very nice set up then you'll pay a little extra.

Depending on what you keep depends on the upkeep, cichlids are very dirty fish they just poop a lot and stuff, so you have to clean the tank a little more often then if you had different fish. I clean the tank about once every 2 weeks or so, and clean the acrylic when I can I have a spray that I use with a micro fiber cloth.

Its not hard at all, and its so nice to just sit back and watch the tank!!

But I have spent around $200 on fish which isn't bad seeing the amount of fish that I have

Love it dude and I agree, one of the best pieces of furniture one could have. You know I have mine as well only I keep snakes in them. lol Much easier!!!!!!! lol GTP's hardly make a mess dude but fish are very relaxing. I wanted to do a salt water tank but didn't feel like learning chemistry to run it.

It's kind of embarrassing to admit it but I used to work as the Aquatics specialists at one of the Pet stores we don't like much at this forum.

The Tigers were my favorites ,I used to keep a few. I've forgotten a lot of what I knew , I actually knew quite a bit.

Nice looking tank you've got there !

The bigger, the easier I hear it is to take care of. I agree, 180 gallon minimum. 55 gallons just does not do it anymore when you are talking about salt water fish.

Have you seen the show tanked? Pretty cool show but I like the real coral and not the fake stuff.

Its just the upstart (and money but wifes dont care ) that I hear is a pain once its all established its like a little eco system and you really dont do anything but water changes Plus your kids would love

I love watching fish and could just stare at a fish tank all day but I don't think I could manage the upkeep of one xD Still, great tank and beautiful fish.
