For those of you who don't know, I have a two and a half year old Doberman Pinscher named Ceaser. I know Ceaser isn't spelled correctly, but I wanted it that way on purpose. My wife and I both work a swing shift at the same plant. We had just got home at about four am this morning, and let the dogs out as usual. Ceaser had smelled some road kill and wandered out into the road in front of our house. We live out in the country so lighting is very poor.
Next thing we know, we heard a loud thump out side, no brakes locked up at or anything, so we didn't think much of it. My wife went to our back to and called the dog. He came up on the deck acting like he didn't want to come in the house which is strange. After a few minutes of coaxing, he cam in the house with blood gushing from his nose and mouth. He was snorting and struggling to breath. My wife called the emergency vet and told them they were on the way. I kept Ceaser in the kitchen and felt all over his body to asses the damage and provided him some comfort.
He never once whined or whimpered. Nor was he shaking at all. As I went from his head to his tail checking him out. He just pointed his head towards the floor as blood was running out like a faucet on low. He shut his eyes like he was just wanting to sleep in the sitting position. I had to snap my fingers 3 times in his ear to get him to come around. That is what scarred me. He gave me this weird calming look, as I watched the whites of his eyes turn blood red, then he closed his eyes and leaned his head against my face. Within 10 minutes of my wife being on the phone, he had bled out a 2 and a half foot spot on the floor! My wife got the truck ready and away they go.
Fast forward to now. I went out side this morning after a restless night to look at the road where he was hit, and this is what I saw:

Keep in mind that the speed limit on my road is 45, but most do 55-60. These pictures were taken at about 12:30 PM, he was only hit there, he didn't lay there after he was hit, just to give you an idea of how much blood he was loosing. The brown in the pick was his poo. I was hit so hard that he went. I don't know how he survived this. The vet figured the initial impact was to his head, then his legs got ran over. I don't know how he wasn't KO'd.
I will be going to pick him up from the vet this evening and I will give you all an update.
To everyone who said a prayer for him thank you from the bottom of my heart. My family thanks you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
